Here’s a glimpse into my process for creating the art in Hellscape Americana, my new one-man horror anthology. It all starts digitally - thumbnails, then panel borders, followed by rough pencils, tight pencils, and digital lettering, which are laid out on a combination of iPad and Cintiq. Once the page is tight, I print it onto 12” x 18” bristol and I ink it. In this case, I’m using a no. 22 Kuretake Zig Cartoonist Brush Pen.
Hellscape Americana ships THIS MONTH, January, 2025. Pre-orders are open at pat-Higgins.com/hellscape, and it should be coming in from the printer any day now. Get your copy now and step into the madness!
And as a side note, I’m planning on being a little more active here on Substack in the coming year. I’m still on Instagram (yeah, I know), as well a the more interesting and lively BlueSky, so follow along on there as well.
